My dad was stationed in Korea well after the war. And as he's legally blind in one eye he couldn't have any duty that would possibly cost him the us of the other eye, so he was the company clerk. Yes, my dad was Radar.

He wasn't the only member of my family to serve.

All of his brothers served and all of my maternal uncles (minus one) served as well.

We're an Army family (with a couple of Navy vets).

And to those who have served, those who continue to serve and to their families I salute you and wish you all a blessed Veteran's Day.

I always seem to attract the drunk folk in public.

Apparently me accessibility makes them want to talk to me.

And this evening in Pathmark, a drunk gentleman came in and asked the guy behind the deli counter if he could have one of the pre-made subs for half price because they misspelled the word "Italian".

There were several things wrong with this. Among them, the deli guy was weirded out beyond his ability to help this man's drunk @$$, if bad spelling altered price I'd get stuff for free, and most importantly it wasn't spelled wrong.

The guy wanted me to be his wingman on his adventure and he grabbed the sandwich and asked me to back him up.

Is that spelled right?

Um, yeah dude.

That's right?

Yes it is.

Then he changed direction and started talking to me about life the universe and everything. I only half paid attention. I was just worried about him turning from talkative drunk into angry drunk.

In the middle of all this he pulled out one of those hotel minibar sized bottles and drank all of it.

And the person he most wanted to talk to in the store was me.

I got my bologna and American cheese slices and made my exit stage Lisa.

And that was a portion of my past 2 hours of domestic errand running.

Wherein I learned that drunk people love me like Germans love David Hasselhoff.
